Elizabeth Bottorf Memorial Foundation provides Red Cross Swim Scholarships

Bottorfs and Tami Panos, Red Cross Jeff and Carolyn Bottorf present the local American Red Cross with a check for $3000 from the 2nd Annual Elizabeth Bottorf Memorial Redfish Tournament and fish fry held October 2009.

After losing their daughter, Elizabeth, to a backyard pool accident, the Bottorf’s made it their mission to educate and inform others about the importance of being safe in and around the water. In 2008 the Bottorf family partnered with the Central Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross to provide scholarships to children who could not afford swimming lessons. The inaugural Redfish Tournament provided scholarships for 100 local children in 2009.

Proceeds from the 2nd Annual Elizabeth Bottorf Memorial Redfish Tournament and fish fry will ensure more children have the opportunity to receive swimming lessons beginning June 2010.

Sponsors for the tournament were USA Custom Rods, Garmin, Raymarine, Old Town Kayaks, Don Adams from Chick-fil-a, Smitty’s Barbeque, and The Captain’s Table.
